One of the most engaging anti-hero rogues in all fantasy, Locke Lamora is even more fascinating when paired with his buddy Jean. If you haven’t read The Lies of Locke Lamora, you have a treat in store. It is Book One of The Gentleman Bastards series.

Now to continue my advent calendar of great quotations from great speculative fiction. Here is one from a laugh-out-loud favorite of mine, John Scalzi’s Hugo and Locus Award short-listed novel Starter Villain (2023).
